Wildhouse Publicity Internship

Wildhouse Publishing Publicity Intern

The position

Wildhouse Publishing’s publicity manager is seeking a part-time intern to assist with social media content generation, publicity campaign support, media landscape research, and project management assistance. This is an unpaid position, but eligible for course credit for current graduate or undergraduate students.

We have a busy Spring season ahead of us, with four new books (two poetry, two fiction) releasing in May and June. WHP seeks someone to assist with building media contact lists, creating eye-catching social media content for both the press and individual authors, and keeping a finger on the pulse of current and evolving trends in the literary world.

Applicants are encouraged to review the Wildhouse mission. We publish books that specialize in spirituality, for an audience that exists between labels and aligns closely with the description of “spiritual, but not religious.”

Requirements

  • 10-15 hours a week, remote work (weekend hours are possible, as long as deadlines are met!)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Slack, Canva, and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Video, audio, and social media experience crucial (please provide portfolio of relevant content in PDF format)
  • Experience working in social media, online writing, literary magazines, etc. preferred
  • Knowledge of current literary scene (BookTok, literary trends, rising publications)

The intern will gain…

  • Experience working in the publicity & marketing side of publishing
  • Content generation and marketing experience
  • Inside look at how a nonprofit, start-up publishing house functions
  • Knowledge of the trade and poetry publishing process
  • Course credit
